Emmy nominee Rufus Sewell returns to Netflix in his new role as Hal Wyler in the political drama series The Diplomat, also starring Golden Globe Award-winning actress Keri Russell.

The Diplomat follows Kate Wyler, a successful career diplomat who finds herself struggling to juggle her new position as US Ambassador to the United Kingdom and her tumultuous marriage to a longtime political star.

Keri Russell plays the role of Kate Wyler, while Rufus Sewell plays Kate’s charismatic husband, Hal. Hal is a fellow US diplomat who can sometimes be manipulative and ruthless. Since Kate and Hal have different ways of approaching their jobs, they often butt heads and can be competitive towards each other. It’ll be interesting to see what happens between the two by the end of the first season.
