Chris Evans is no longer sexiest man alive as Hollywood star steals crown

It’s that time of year again, when PEOPLE crown their sexiest man alive, and this year it’s Patrick Dempsey who’s taken Chris Evans off the top spot.

The Grey’s Anatomy star played the famous heartthrob neurosurgeon Derek “McDreamy” on the hit TV show from 2005 to 2015, so it’s no wonder fans were overjoyed with the choice.

All good things must come to an end, which is what happened to Captain America star Chris Evans and his 2022 reign.

The new air to the throne, Patrick Dempsey, was overjoyed with the decision, as the Hollywood star told PEOPLE he’s “glad it’s happening” at this time of his life.

“It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive,” the 57-year-old said.

Although no one else was, the heartthrob said he was ‘shocked’ when he heard about the decision.

“I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid!” he laughed.

“I’d completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good,” Patrick concluded.

However, it looks like his kids may keep that ego well in check. He told the publication they’re going to ‘make fun of him’ and “figure out every reason why I shouldn’t be.”

The actor and his wife, Jillian Fink, are parents to three children. Daughter Talula, 21, and twin boys Darby and Sullivan, 16.
