Alexandra Popp-Höppe, born April 6, 1991, is a well-known German footballer and Olympic gold medalist who has played for both VfL Wolfsburg and the German national team. Prior to joining her current teams, she was a key member of FCR 2001 Duisburg and 1. FFC Recklinghausen.

Her outstanding ability gained her prestigious acclaim, as she was elected German Footballer of the Year twice, in 2014 and 2016. Her leadership abilities were recognized further when she was named captain of the German national team in February 2019.

Alexandra grew up in Gelsenkirchen and attended Gesamtschule Berger Feld, a German Football Association-approved premier football school.

She was the only female student and needed a special permit to be there. Training with youth players from FC Schalke 04, a notable German men’s Bundesliga club, increased her passion for the game.
